BLACKPINK made a New History as a K-pop Girl Group

The group BLACKPINK became the first million seller as a K-pop girl group. BLACKPINK's first full-length album "THE ALBUM" exceeded 1.2 million sales, and this record became the best record among K-pop girl group's records.
According to YG Entertainment on the 26th, BLACKPINK's "THE ALBUM" has sold a total of 120,543 copies so far. About 871,355 copies were sold in Korea, 319,300 in the U.S. and Europe. In addition, 18,888 limited-edition LPs were sold out early.
BLACKPINK is the first K-pop girl group to approach more than 1 million sales of a full-length album. Not only in the 2000s, but also in the 1990s, before the music market stagnated, about 760,000 sales of the group S.E.S was the highest record. BLACKPINK has made history as a K-pop girl group by selling record-high albums.
BLACKPINK's "THE ALBUM" showed off its irreplaceable presence on various global charts, both music and record scores.
"THE ALBUM" topped iTunes album charts in 57 countries around the world shortly after the release of the song. The album released after that ranked second on the U.S. Billboard 200 and the U.K.'s official album charts, breaking the K-pop girl group's highest ranking.
It is also surprising that BLACKPINK's album sales have been the top female group in the world, which has been released in the U.S. for more than a decade. Billboard noted that "the first week of 'THE ALBUM' was the highest ranking since 'Welcome to the Dolhouse, 2008' by American girl group Danity Kane."
The album's title track "Lovesick Girls" proved its steady popularity by topping the global YouTube Song Top 100 chart for two consecutive weeks after reaching third place on the world's largest music streaming platform Spotify Global Top 50 chart. In addition, the song "Ice Cream" has been in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for seven consecutive weeks and the U.K.'s Official Singles Top 100 for eight consecutive weeks, respectively, becoming the longest-loved K-pop girl group song on the world's two pop charts.
BLACKPINK's "THE ALBUM" is expected to top 10 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, which will be updated this week. BLACKPINK is also the first K-pop girl group to make it to the top 10 of Billboard's main album chart for three consecutive weeks.
